Ngày 30-1, anh Nguyễn Minh Tuân, ở thị trấn An Bình (quận Ninh Kiều - TP Cần Thơ) cho biết cách đây hơn hai năm, anh đã hữu duyên tậu được cây mai này ở Tiền Giang.
Cây mai vàng 30 năm tuổi này có cốt thẳng đứng, đa dạng tàng nhánh, lộc lá, hoành thân rộng 50cm. Đặc biệt, càng lên cao, thân cây mai chia ra 3 nhánh xòe rộng nên anh Tuân đã nảy sinh ra ý tưởng tạo dáng hình chữ S như bản đồ quê hương Việt Nam.

"Từ bẻ khung, cắt cành, tạo dáng cây mai theo hình chữ S, tôi phải mất hơn 2 năm ròng rã. Giờ cây cơ bản đã thành hình, bông nở rộ, đều to nên mùa xuân Nhâm Dần 2022 này tôi đem ra đây trưng bày giao lưu với mọi người" - anh Tuân cho biết.
Hiện cây mai dáng hình chữ S do anh Tuân sáng tạo có chiều cao 5m; phần đầu hình chữ S có bề ngang 1.5m; dọc dài eo nhỏ của thân rộng 40cm; cuối hình chữ S ngang 1.2m.
